Agriculture has always been part of life in La Haciendita. For centuries, families have worked its land, growing corn and bean despite the region’s frequent draughts. It’s a lifestyle that’s been passed down for generations of organic farmers, one that existed even before the Spanish set foot on the land.

Tirso Yepez learned the lifestyle at a young age, taking care of the oxen for a farmer in the area. As an adult, he planted and harvested his own fields, working until well past his nineties. Today, he continues the age old tradition, passing down his knowledge to the new generation of his family.
