VILLAPALOOZA
2011
Ten years ago, artists, musicians and community residents came together to organize Villapalooza, a one-day music festival in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood. Founded to address the lack of spaces dedicated to the arts on the city’s West Side, the festival created a platform for those looking to showcase their talent and artistry. The team fundraised and worked with local business owners, transforming unconventional sites in the neighborhood into performing arts spaces. GHY helped organize the first three years of the festival, which continues today led by the youth council at Yollocalli Arts Reach, a community arts organization in Little Village.
