The Interrupters is a 2011 documentary film that follows three violence interrupters as they attempt to curb gang crime across Chicago’s South and West Side neighborhoods. The film debuted at a time when Chicago's violence made headlines due to the high number of shootings and homicides throughout the city. As part of the film’s promotion, GHY led a curatorial collaboration with high schools across the city, creating an exhibition that featured anti-violence student artwork advocating for peace.
